Beijing Olympics bronze medallist Vijender Singh tied the knot on May 17 with Delhi girl Archana Singh.
Vijender says Archana supported him even when he wasn’t the star that he is now.
After an engagement ceremony on May 16 at his village Kulawas and the marriage was solemnised in New Delhi on May 17.
Archana works in New Delhi and hails from Muzaffarnagar (in Uttar Pradesh). She works with the British High Commission in New Delhi and both families have known each other for the last three-four months.
The wedding was a low-key affair as the guest list included only close relatives, family members and colleagues of the Olympic and World Championship bronze-medallist.
Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, who is a friend of the boxer and an avid boxing fan himself, marked his presence at the wedding ceremony. He was at the venue for about ten minutes and wished the newly-wed couple. Senior BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain and the former union minister captain Satish Sharma were also present on the occasion.
